The Special Olympics Ontario

The Special Olympics Ontario is a part of a dynamic worldwide charitable organization dedicated to promote a more active and better quality of life for people who have an intellectual disability through their involvement with sports. By donating you are contributing to the many expenses that come along with being an athlete including athlete training, staff support, accommodation, travel, meals. Donations also support Special Olympians with public education, grants to new community programs and development initiatives like school programs to encourage these boys, girls, men and women to expand their mind and muscles through sports and giving them hopes, dreams and goals to reach for. Over the past 40 years Special Olympics has grown, from a modest program serving local athletes, to become the world’s largest movement dedicated to promoting respect, acceptance, inclusion and human dignity for people with intellectual disabilities through sports.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario

The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ontario is an actual running event in which officers and athletes run the “Flame of Hope” to the Opening Ceremonies of local Special Olympics’ competitions. This includes Provincial games, along with National Summer or Winter Games. The Torch Run is greatly involved in fundraising for the Special Olympian by having corporate donations, special events such as NHL Alumni Hockey Game, Polar Plunges, Golf Tournaments and many more all over Ontario. All the donations and pledges benefit Special Olympics athletes in Ontario. It is through the dedication, commitment and passion of the men and women in the Law Enforcement that enables the Ontario Program to continue to be not only the #1 fundraising arm for Special Olympics Ontario, but a world-class program recognized internationally for raising in excess of $1,000,000 each and every year.
